The rank and file of the Mission Fire Department played host to the staff of TES˛ this month as they participated in the 16-hour hands-on program – Search Line Survival / RIT Deployment course.
Nearly 50 members of Mission Fire Department were present for the weekend program, which included a four-hour multi-media lecture on Managing the Fireground Mayday followed by 16 hours of intense hands-on training.
Using an abandoned post office, the staff of TES˛ constructed a detailed search line survival course followed by a full day of RIT deployment scenario training detailing the newly developed “Objective Based Deployment Operations for Rapid Intervention Teams.”
The course included firefighter rescue operations, command and control for the fireground Mayday, personnel accountability, relay rescue operations and extensive air management training.
The staff of TES˛ would like to thank Lieutenant Joe Luna and the members of the Mission Fire Department for their wonderful hospitality and hard work in planning this program.
*Funding for this offering of the Search Line Survival / RIT Deployment course was provided by a 2004 Fire Act Grant received by the Mission Fire Department.
